Frequently Asked Questions
What type of school is SIHA?
We are a Place Based Public Charter School, chartered through the state of SC ● This means we are not associated with Beaufort County Schools. ● There is no application fee or tuition ● Beginning with 6th & 7th for the 2024 school year, we will grow to 6th to 12th.
What is a Place Based School?
A placed based school integrates into our academic content attention to the local community and environment across the curriculum. It emphasizes hands-on, real-world learning experiences that incorporate the meanings and experiences of place.
Do you offer the same access to support that the public schools have to provide?
Yes, we do. ● We offer IEPs/ 504s and Dual Credit (USCB & TCLC), STEM programs. ● We offer bus hub transportation in the northern portion of Beaufort County or gas cards for those that wish to drive their scholar.
What makes SIHA different from other options?
● Mastery Based Assessment and small groups; meaning we will accurately assess your scholar’s academic status upon arrival at SIHA. We will make sure your scholar learns the material at their level, in the way that works best for their learning style. Before they are moved on to the next subject level, they will demonstrate mastery of the material being studied. ● Each scholar will be placed in small groups by subjects of approximately 15 students learning at the same level. ● By the time they graduate 12th grade, they will have a full understanding of all the material of a K-12 education and can choose their next step. Their education will give them endless options.
